Hiding boxes that provide extra humidity are also a good homemade option for ground-dwelling herps that need a damp environment. Each of these items can be decorated to add a nice flair to the terrarium, as long as only non-toxic paint and glue is used. Homemade rock structures are also an option, provided that the rocks are securely glued together so they don't collapse on top of the reptile. Small cardboard boxes, Styrofoam cups cut in half, small paper bags, empty toilet paper rolls and colored plastic food containers with a doorway cut into them can all work, even though they may need to be replaced after a while. Herp owners on a budget, or those who want to be creative, can make their own hides. Some different decorative hideaways available include pyramids, skulls (dinosaur, pirate and cow, to name a few), tropical huts, castles, treasure chests, purses and shacks. As long as the hiding place is physically stable, has no sharp edges and provides security for the pet, any design will work. A variety of manmade hiding places are available to herp owners who want to decorate their pet's terrarium with a theme, or even with some humor. These types of dwellings are available in pet supply stores or online, and they come in a variety of styles and colors. Although many commercial hides are made of natural products, others are constructed from resin, plastic and other synthetic materials, which makes them easier to clean. Hollowed-out logs, coconut shells, driftwood, animal skulls and stone structures are some natural-looking dwellings you can provide for your terrestrial herp. Some examples of cave-like hiding places include: When choosing a hiding place for your terrestrial herp, select one that is large enough to conceal the animal's entire body with an opening large enough for it to easily enter and exit, but not so large that the herp feels exposed. Different materials and designs are available from reptile product manufacturers, and as long as the animal feels secure and the hiding place is safe, any cave-type dwelling is acceptable. When it comes to hiding, terrestrial herps prefer any object that will function as a makeshift cave. Species that need hiding places on the ground include leopard geckos, iguanas, bearded dragons, anoles, fire-bellied toads and rosy boas, to name a few. The widest variety of commercially made hiding places is designed for terrestrial herps. Terrestrial animals need secure cover located on the terrarium floor, while arboreal species prefer a hiding place higher up in the enclosure. The type of hiding place you choose for your pet will depend primarily on the type of herp you own. Fortunately for herp owners, a variety of options are available on the market. Given the importance of hiding places, it's vital that every terrarium contain suitable areas where a herp can conceal itself. Their stress levels are lower, their immune systems are stronger and they tend to live longer. On the flip side, reptiles provided with a good hiding place feel secure. This results in weight loss, decreased activity and more susceptibility to disease. Chronic stress also makes the herp more susceptible to parasites, which can kill an already-weakened animal.īecause reptiles suffering from chronic stress have reduced appetite, they can also suffer from nutritional deficiencies (/Reptile-Health/Ask-A-Vet/Constipated-Lizard/), says Watkins. " Chronic stress can suppress the immune system, which helps fight off infections, such as respiratory, skin and systemic bacterial infections ," says Watkins, noting that reptiles deprived of hiding places can be plagued with a host of illness that may ultimately result in loss of the animal's life. When reptiles-or any animal species-are under stress, the body suffers the consequences. " This can be exhausting and stressful for the animal, and this will take its toll." " Reptiles must always be on high alert for danger or confrontation," says Watkins. Captive reptiles that are denied the option to conceal themselves are at great risk-not of being eaten by a predator or battling with a foe but of suffering poor health. Also clearance is directly affected by what kind of terrain a vehicle will see. Even tire sizes vary from tire manufacturer to tire manufacturer and tire widths play a part in whether a size will fit or not. Not all possible 4×4 vehicles are listed nor are all possible combinations. I should have them by Monday. The data below is derived from research, readers rigs, feedback by readers and from direct experience with vehicles we’ve owned over the years. Plus I've heard that they don't have the best life compared to other MT's and the guy helping me confirmed that his 40" Toyo MT's wear out crazy fast. I was going to go with the Toyo MT but they said those tires are a bit hard to come by and can take a while to get in. I've heard good things about the new KM3 and that they have made some good improvements over the KM2 especially with reducing the road noise quite a bit. They were about the same price as KM3's but I figured I would try something different. I almost went with Nitto Trail Grapplers as I've had a set in 35s on my 1500 Ram and loved them. Plus I'm only having to pay an additional $160 for the KM3's when normally it would be an additional $400 or so over these coopers. I've been hearing that coopers are a hit or miss as far as having issues with them so I didnt feel like taking that chance again. I went to Discount this afternoon and had them order me up some BFG KM3's. I'm sure I will see more sidewall flex and bounce again, but I think it will be worth the compromise. I like to try to keep the tires under the truck. With that said, when these wear out, I will be changing wheel size again and going to the STT Pro 37X13.50R18LT and an 18" wheel with a +25 offset. I really like them, except I want to get more sidewall. The tires required minimal weights for a perfect balance and they are smooth as glass on the highway. I did buy some aluminum hub centric rings for the 20" wheels to make sure everything matched perfectly. If the front of the truck didn't have a slope, the front wheels would be pretty much underneath the body as well. My front tires extend out about 1/2 inch on each side. I eventually ended up going with a second set of STT Pros, but on a 20" wheel, as I wanted to cut down on the sidewall flex and bounce. When AEV recalled the wheels, I went back to my factory wheels/tires temporarily, since I had them already. It wasn't so bad though that I would have changed tires had there not been a recall on the wheels. It was pretty noticeable after they broke in around 8k-10k miles. The only issue I did have with them was quite a bit of sidewall flex and bounce on the road. I never had an issue with balance on them. I purchased the tires from Discount Tire. The first set was 37X13.50R17LT on 17" AEV Katlas. I'm on my second set of STT Pro 37" tires. If we are flexible – so we are told – we don’t have to worry much about sequence risk. It’s almost like a personal finance “zombie” topic that, after I thought I put it to rest once and for all, always comes back when you least expect it. This month, I initially planned to write about the effects of timing Social Security in the context of safe withdrawal simulations. Fifty-eight parts now, and the new ideas come faster than I can write posts these days. Let’s take a look.I wonder if I’ll ever run out of material for the Safe Withdrawal Series. So, color us more than curious.īut before we sign off, we have new numbers from Backblaze that give us a nibble at its Q3 results. And when double-digit multiples applied to profit and not revenue. Its IPO is a harkening back to the time when it was somewhat difficult to convince private-market investors to value your company in the nine-figures, let alone 10. Which makes Backblaze nearly unique from our perspective. The examples roll from memory: Robinhood was worth dozens of billions when it went public Coinbase was as well when it direct listed NerdWallet is going to be a public unicorn merely on the strength of the written word and AllBirds? More like AllUnicorn. Indeed, even some of the smaller or less traditional companies that we’ve seen debut in recent quarters have had valuations north of $1 billion. Which is notable given the sheer heft of many tech companies we’ve seen go public lately. That means that Backblaze is going public as a non-unicorn. Quick extrapolation indicates that at the top end of its price range, Backblaze’s IPO could value the storage firm at $684.3 million. Notably the company’s fully diluted valuation is quite a bit higher, with Renaissance Capital reporting that at $16 per share, Backblaze’s valuation inclusive of shares that have been earned, if not yet exercised via options or similar, to be $644 million. And it has, namely an S-1/A filing indicating that the company expects to price its IPO between $15 and $17 per share.Īt its IPO price range and 28,545,893 shares expected to be outstanding after its IPO, Backblaze is worth $428.2 million to $485.3 million. Since it was smaller in revenue terms than most tech companies going public these days, we deferred on judging its worth until Backblaze itself provided some guidance. But when it came to pricing, we had little idea of how to value the company. With a central core of content to help power customer acquisition and a huge swath of customers, it was an interesting cloud storage play. When Backblaze first filed to go public, TechCrunch found it a compelling company. Owner is selling the studios due to a Job offer which requires relocation and traveling. Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz, The Afterparty Apple TV+ Does she choose the one who understands her grief, or the one who may be her ticket out of it? -Tim Surette While the story itself is packed with teen melodrama, it's the raw emotion and visual storytelling that make this worth a watch if you're pining for an escape, not to mention the love triangle, with one of those points being Lennie's sister's ex-boyfriend. Decker bounces between truly fantastical moments - a new boy at school's trumpet literally drops waves of musical notes that send those who hear it swooning and collapsing - with the natural beauty of the California Redwoods - Decker uses the light between the trees as brushstrokes to illuminate her characters - for a film that's hard to take your eyes off of. She also did the voice of Gloria the penguin in the 2006 feature Happy Feet. Time reporter Richard Corliss described her as a "hot property" regarding the "specialized field of voice work for cartoons." She did the voice role of character Luanne Platter on the animated sitcom King of the Hill for the entirety of the show's run beginning in 1997. Murphy was a critically acclaimed voice actor. She was set to appear in the Sylvester Stallone film, The Expendables, which will be released in 2010. In 2009, she was cast in the TV movie, Tribute, as the main character, Cilla. Film critic Roger Ebert gave positive reviews and compared her to Lucille Ball. Murphy starred in many films (see filmography below). Murphy also guest-starred on several television series. She then went on to play Molly Morgan in the short-lived The Torkelsons spinoff Almost Home. Murphy had no children, although there was a report in the Huffington Post claiming that Murphy had "wanted to become a mother soon." The in-demand actress had hit film vehicles such as Clueless and Riding in Cars with Boys as well as doing voice-over work and starring in numerous television shows. A report in BBC News suggested that the actress could have survived "if she had seen a doctor in time". Murphy's husband Simon Monjack and Murphy's mother claimed that the actress had been experiencing "flu-like symptoms" days before she collapsed in her home in the Hollywood Hills. However, there were findings that anemia and prescription drugs may have played a role in the death of the actor who once starred in films such as Drop Dead Gorgeous, Girl, Interrupted and Deadline, leaving some questions unanswered. Not much English on that one.” Believe it or not, that is one of the most popular games at the arcade, It is called Punch Mania 2, it is based on a very popular Japanese cartoon called fist of the North Star, it has been enjoyed by hundreds of players. How do you play it? We're still not sure. They even have a weird game where you have to punch these red paddles that flip out at your face. “ I apologize for this Ben, but we are using classic mechanical token mechs in the xmen, which was what it was designed with almost 30 years ago, if you try to put in the tokens too quickly, sometimes the mechs won’t catch it properly, and sometimes clients put in quarters which jam or dis-align the mechs, even thought we adjust and test the mechs regularly several times a day, unless a client notifies us that the mech is not working properly we cannot check it and adjust it for them, and we also take care of the tokens they put in, many times giving them extra credits for their time, we like to keep that old arcade feel by continuing to use tokens, but alas this is the biggest problem that plagues a token type system, jams and having to deal with unfamiliar coins being jammed in them, a majority of our clients prefer the token system as it brings back the nostalgia of an era now gone. “I did enjoy tapping away on the cool X-Men game (although my brother frequently had to insert two tokens instead of the required one when using Nightcrawler). And I am proud to say it gives everyone the opportunity to play titles that you would never see anywhere else in the USA. I do not believe that is such a bad ratio 2 out of 63 cabinets. Out of all of those Arcade games only 2 imports out of the 63 cabinets that have Japanese writing in the games, the other 61 have all American text. Not including all the console and pc titles which will bring your total # of unique games you can play at Arcade Odyssey to well over 200 +. There are just a handful of classic games, and a ton of weird Japanese imports - some with nary an English word anywhere on them.” There are 63 games currently in the arcade, 3 of them are multigames with a ton of classic titles, such as Pacman, Frogger, Robotron, Missle command, etc, with the 3 multigames, it brings the total # of games you can play in the arcade to 105 different titles. “But Arcade Odyssey isn't all that special. You mentioned a few items in your review that I would like to address here is your review with my replies. I wanted to fall in love with Arcade Odyssey, but I'm not sure it merits a second date. But there wasn't any signage or anything. Did I really need to hear that blaring while I'm playing games? There are several desktop computers available (not sure why) and an area that appears to be set up for console games. There was also someone narrating something over a very loud speaker, but I have no idea where the man with the microphone was, or what the hell he was describing. There's an air hockey table, but it has a lot of dead spots where the puck doesn't float. I did enjoy tapping away on the cool X-Men game (although my brother frequently had to insert two tokens instead of the required one when using Nightcrawler). There are just a handful of classic games, and a ton of weird Japanese imports - some with nary an English word anywhere on them. But Arcade Odyssey isn't all that special. They are the last guardians of a dying age. On principle, I'm inclined to love any arcade. I wish there were more arcades like this, especially where I currently live because it would be a blast to work there and enjoy an atmosphere of people coming together to enjoy old- and new school games. It wouldn't do enough justice to how amazing this place is. I don't know what else to say that can't really be put into words. Immediately it's a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with the staff members helpful and completely awesome individuals. Essentially it is the home away from home. I also have a shirt from there that I love wearing. If I had a million dollars I would have easily spent it all there playing as much as possible, as long as possible while also enjoying the Japanese treats and drinks that are difficult to find. The classics from pinball to shooter games from DDR and Pump it up (which is my favorite whenever I get a chance to go there) to air hockey. The glow in the dark carpet is sick and I want them in my room! The games are a fantastic combination of old and new in catering to everyone's tastes in gaming genres. To put it simply it is the best place to be.
